THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN at BRUTAL ASSAULT!
Excitement is building as THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN gears up to headline Brutal Assault this year. In a special performance exclusive to Western and Central European metal festivals, the band will treat fans to a Calculating Infinity set (with some surprises) commemorating the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album. After seven years, TDEP, known for pushing the boundaries of extreme metal, is making a triumphant return to the stage for this momentous occasion, with Dimitri Minakakis joining them.
Reflecting on his return, Dimitri shares, “I wanted to take this moment to express my gratitude for the warm welcome back to the stage for these 25th-anniversary shows of Calculating Infinity. Watching my friends travel the world and achieve such incredible heights with the band was bittersweet. It made me immensely proud but also stirred a longing to step back into the spotlight and perform some of these songs I wrote for all you amazing fans who joined the journey after my departure.”
Adding to the excitement, Dimitri continues, “Now, it’s time for the three of us, along with my buddy Billy, the longest-standing and most prolific contributing Dillinger drummer, and the mighty James Love, to give our debut album a send-off like never before.”
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN’s Calculating Infinity achieved massive success, selling over 100,000 copies and becoming Relapse Records’ best-selling album at the time. Critics hailed it as a breakthrough in hardcore punk and heavy metal music. Despite their 2017 breakup, the band decided to reunite exclusively for this anniversary, bringing their special performance to Brutal Assault fans.
In addition to this highly anticipated headline act, Brutal Assault’s lineup has expanded with the addition of thirteen more bands, making up over 90% of the announced roster. Newcomers include BEWITCHED, known for their “pre-thrash black metal,” occult thrash/black outfit MORTUARY DRAPE, and the high-speed evil of Poland’s TOTENMESSE.
Other notable additions include American huntress of darkness EMMA RUTH RUNDLE, Australian instrumental djent trio THE OMNIFIC, and Belgian progressive stoners MY DILIGENCE. Returning favorites like avant-garde jazz-black act IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, sophisticated SYLOSIS, and folk-black-death trolls FINNTROLL will once again grace the festival’s brutal stages.
For death metal enthusiasts, the lineup offers European icons PESTILENCE, progressive/technical death metal mavens GOROD, the daring DISKORD blending old school, technical death metal and jazz elements, and the unapologetically brutal underground act KRONOS.
