Quite frankly, this is a great song and a great choice for them to have made for their first single. This won’t be the last you hear from them, and if the rest of their output is even half as good as this, then we’re in for a treat.
This is my first time reviewing a single – it’s also my first time reviewing an unsigned band. Having said that, I doubt this’ll be the last review I do of The Soul Shakers. This is a surprisingly polished first single.
They’re being mooted as a band for fans of the Black Crowes and the Rolling Stones – if that brings any sort of pressure, it’s not apparent here. This is all about infectious, ass-shaking rock and roll…going back to the good old days, before we started getting a lot of sanitized ‘rock’ music that invades the charts.
