SLAYER – Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2015

As darkness fell upon the stage, the chants of “Slayer!” began to echo from the crowd that gathered to see one of the “Big Four” that pioneered and shaped the sound of American thrash metal. Slayer bassist and vocalist Tom Araya led an all-out aural assault on the outdoor venue amidst an array of pyrotechnic blasts, flanked on either side by guitarists Kerry King and Gary Holt, and drummer Paul Bostaph laying down the rapid fire, breakneck tempo from the back of the stage. Playing an extended set of crowd favorites, the band ripped through several classic Slayer tunes such as “War Ensemble,” “Mandatory Suicide,” “Dead Skin Mask,” and “South of Heaven,” before ending the evening with the infamous “Angel of Death.”
