Concert Review and Photos: STEEL PANTHER in Kansas City

The Midland Theater | Kansas City, MO | 11 December 2018

It’s become a holiday tradition in Kansas City to attend the Twisted Xmas – an annual concert hosted by “Kansas City’s Rock Station”, 98.9 The Rock – an event held at the beautiful Midland Theatre in downtown KC. Tonight’s festivities brought the clown princes of sleazy Glam metal, Steel Panther, to the historic KC venue as they delivered an energized set to a packed house. Currently, the band is on their “Sunset Strip Live!” tour and will play a handful of remaining west coast dates before heading to the UK in early February 2019. Direct support was provided tonight by Detroit rockers, Wilson.

A few weeks ago, Steel Panther announced that bassist Lexxi Foxx would not be performing on the current US tour, as he has “voluntarily checked himself into an undisclosed sex rehab.” The band’s friend of over 30 years and backstage doorman Spyder has been filling in on bass for the upcoming tour dates. And while Foxx’s flamboyant and jokingly narcissistic stage presence was missed during the performance, Spyder performed surprisingly well blending in with the group’s stage chemistry and providing the low-end thump that kept the audience engaged in party mode.

“We love Lexxi Foxx…and his mother. We support his decision to enter sex rehab. We can’t wait for him to get back on the road with us after he learns how to have better sex,” explains drummer Stix Zadinia on behalf of Steel Panther.
