On opening day of Riot Fest, Chicago’s own dark industrial metal band Ministry, kept the fans engaged while performing new and classic hits on the main Riot stage. Ministry is fronted by the legendary and creatively unique frontman Al “fucking” Jourgensen. Al formed the band in the early 80’s in a small suburb of Chicago with a few friends, he is responsible for making industrial music popular in the 1980’s, and is the only original active member still with the band. With over 35 years of making music (minus a small hiatus in 2008-2011) Ministry is set to release their 14th studio album later this fall. Their new album titled AmeriKKKant, will be available for digital download, and will be followed up by a vinyl release in January of 2018. AmeriKKKant will feature musical guest appearances from Burton C. Bell of Fear Factory, former N.W.A member Arabian Prince, DJ Swamp and Lord of the Cello. The current line-up besides Al Jourgensen playing Riot Fest featured John Bechdel on keyboards, Sin Quirin and Cesar Soto on guitar, Jason Christopher playing bass, and Thomas Holtgreve on drums. Ministry will head over to Australia after playing Riot Fest for a few dates, then in mid-October will head back to the States to play with opening act Death Grip.
